About Me

Dr. Eric Berg  DC, The Knowledge Doc, founded the Berg Institute of Health & Wellness in Seminole, Florida, in 1997, where he currently serves as CEO. The mission of the Institute is to help individuals comprehend their health, their body's requirements, and how to overcome nutritional deficiencies.

He empowers individuals to take charge of their health and well-being to achieve their ideal weight loss goals through intermittent fasting and a ketogenic diet. After completing chiropractic school in 1988, he devoted many years to nutrition-related scientific research. His passion was fueled by his desire to comprehend his food-related health struggles.

Dr. Eric now instructs individuals on a vast array of health-related topics. He specializes in dissecting complex health problems, relating symptoms to their true causes, and designing nutrition-based healing strategies. His signature healthy keto diet and intermittent fasting — a long-term eating plan — is now widely regarded as transformative factor in achieving exceptional levels of health.

His dramatic improvement in his health due to deeper research into the science of nutrition prompted him to teach his methods to other medical professionals, including as an associate professor at Howard University for a time.

His 2006 book, The 7 Principles of Fat Burning, was updated in 2019 to become the Amazon best-selling The Healthy Keto Plan, based on new research.

In 2008, Dr. Eric Berg also launched a YouTube channel where he continues to share his views on healthy eating and a vast array of other health-related topics, with over 6,000 videos, 18 million subscribers, and 100 million monthly views. He also developed a keto and intermittent fasting course for Keto Coaches worldwide. Dr. Berg's mission is to put individuals in charge of their health.

Dr. Eric was a chiropractor in private practice in San Diego, California, Shreveport, Louisiana, and Alexandria, Virginia, and has served as CEO of the Berg Institute of Health & Wellness in Seminole, Florida, since 1997.

Dr. Eric earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1988 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, after completing pre-med studies at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside from 1983 to 1985 and X-ray technology training in the Army Reserve.

National-Lincoln School of Postgraduate Education; Southern California College of Chiropractic; International Scoliosis Research Center; Risk Management, Louisiana Union of Chiropractic; and Motor Vehicle Collision Injuries, LUCP, provided additional advanced and specialized academic training.

Dr. Eric passed parts I, II, and III of the National Board of Chiropractic Examination, earned the Certificate of Proficiency in Chiropractic X-ray, became a board-certified chiropractor in Virginia, California, and Louisiana, and was certified in Microscopy, live blood cell analysis, and diagnostic interpretation of neuro selective current perception threshold.

Dr. Eric Berg has contributed significant personal resources, including time, money, and extensive public outreach, to charitable organizations that share his passion for wellness and healing throughout his many years in the public eye as a recognized authority in the science of nutrition. Berg and his wife, Karen, contribute generously to the national and international public through education about nutrition and fitness.

Dr. Eric Berg's passion for health extends beyond the Berg Institute, particularly his hobbies and interests. In his words, it has become my hobby to seek out the underlying causes of disease. This passion was inspired by his experience overcoming the effects of overwork and overeating as "the meat and potatoes kid."

By the time Dr. Eric Berg reached 32, his new knowledge of nutrition had restored his energy and ability to keep up with his wife Karen's hectic schedule and their three active children.

Eric's leisure time is now one of his most valuable assets. He finds inspiration and relaxation in playing his handcrafted guitar and collaborating with Karen to create new, enticing, health-infused culinary delights. Dr. Eric Berg now resides on a picturesque farm, researching the cultivation of nutrient-dense plants and animals. Karen concurs that everything in the kitchen originated from the earth.
